Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a Database Engineer to design, implement, and automate enterprise SQL Server platforms across on-prem and Azure cloud environments. You will lead modernization efforts, apply IaC with Terraform and Ansible, and ensure security, performance, and reliability for critical applications.

The role emphasizes platform automation, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and governance to meet regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience engineering SQL Server platforms in enterprise environments.
• Strong expertise in SQL Server administration, performance tuning, high availability, and disaster recovery.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure and database services.
• Advanced experience with Terraform and Ansible for IaC standards and deployment pipelines.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, scripting, automation, and DevOps practices.
• Strong understanding of security, compliance, monitoring, and operational support in regulated environments.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain enterprise SQL Server platforms supporting mission-critical applications.
• Architect and support Azure-based database solutions, including high availability, disaster recovery, backup, monitoring, and security controls.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management using Terraform and Ansible.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code standards, reusable modules, and deployment pipelines.
• Lead SQL Server performance tuning, capacity planning, troubleshooting, and platform optimization efforts.
• Establish database engineering standards, operational procedures, and best practices for reliability, security, and scalability.
• Collaborate with application development, cloud engineering, security, and architecture teams to deliver resilient database solutions.
• Drive platform modernization initiatives, cloud adoption strategies, and automation opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, risk, and audit requirements through governance and controls.
• Serve as a technical resource and mentor for database administrators and engineers.
