Job summary

MACHINE LEARNING TECHNOLOGIES LLC is seeking an experienced Senior SQL Server DBA in Jersey City, NJ. The role focuses on managing, securing, and optimizing enterprise SQL Server environments, with emphasis on performance tuning, high availability, DR, backup and recovery, and cloud database management.

You will design, implement, and maintain SQL Server estates, perform upgrades, monitor performance, and collaborate with development teams to optimize procedures, views, and functions.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration.
• Ability to design, implement, and optimize SQL Server environments.
• Proven track record in high availability, DR, and backup strategies.

Responsibilities

• Design, install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server database environments.
• Perform SQL Server upgrades, migrations, patching, and version upgrades.
• Monitor database performance and troubleshoot complex database issues.
• Perform SQL query optimization, execution plan analysis, and indexing strategies.
• Manage SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, and database mirroring.
• Implement and maintain backup and recovery strategies, including full, differential, and transaction log backups.
• Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
• Manage database security, user permissions, roles, authentication, and auditing.
• Perform database capacity planning, storage management, and performance monitoring.
• Troubleshoot blocking, deadlocks, locking, and concurrency issues.
• Automate DBA activities using PowerShell, T-SQL, and SQL Agent jobs.
• Manage SQL Server Agent jobs, alerts, operators, and maintenance plans.
• Support migrations from on-premises to Azure SQL and Azure SQL Managed Instance.
• Collaborate with developers to optimize stored procedures, views, functions, and triggers.
• Implement monitoring and proactive performance management.
• Maintain database documentation, standards, and procedures.
• Participate in production support and root cause analysis.
