Job summary

Workiva Inc. is seeking a Security Intern to support the Information Security team. You will assist with incident response, vulnerability testing of web applications, and developing tools to improve security monitoring and compliance.

Ideal candidates are currently enrolled in a computer science/engineering program, with basics in programming and familiarity with Linux/Unix. This remote internship offers flexible start dates and learning opportunities across security disciplines.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program in a related field.
• Basic programming knowledge in one or more languages.

Responsibilities

• Provide Incident Response support when an actionable incident is confirmed.
• Document, investigate, and report information security issues and trends.
• Manage and configure tools and devices to expand security monitoring.
• Develop tools to assist with security and compliance tasks.
• Assist with vulnerability testing of web applications to identify weaknesses.
• Research and identify potential security controls to fix vulnerabilities.
• Collaborate with teams to create remediation strategies and timelines.
• Develop queries and visualizations to assist with security tasks.
• Help resolve security issues in production applications.
• Provide analysis and trending of security log data from many devices.
• Collaborate with teams to gather information on security problems.
