Job summary

The City of Chesapeake invites applications for a Spring 2027 Internship with Chesapeake Libraries. The internship runs January 11–April 23, 2027, at Central Library and other locations, offering hands-on library experience in programs, displays, and outreach.

Candidates must be enrolled in an ALA-accredited MLS program and in good academic standing, or recent graduates within one year. Flexible hours up to 30 per week, with day/evening/weekend shifts, paid at $17.50 per hour.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an American Library Association accredited master’s degree program in Library Science.
• College student in good academic standing, or a recent graduate (within one year).

Responsibilities

• Compile materials for new employee orientation and assist volunteers.
• Create monthly themed end cap displays or rotating display tables.
• Create flyers and displays for program and library display marketing needs.
• Maintain and monitor volunteer inbox and meet-and-greet activities.
• Assist Staff Day planning and support event logistics.
