Job summary

The City of Chesapeake is offering a Recreation Leader internship for Youth & Instructional Programs in Chesapeake, VA. The role focuses on supervising children 6-15 across summer and after-school activities in community centers, parks, and events.

Responsibilities include activity planning, supervision, safety, and customer service, with a flexible schedule and some weekend/holiday work. CPR/First Aid certification within the first year is required.

Qualifications

• Requires instruction that is sufficient for satisfactory job performance.
• Minimum of one month of full-time equivalent experience.
• CPR and First Aid certification within the first year of employment. May require a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is in compliance with City Driving Standards.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children aged 6-15 in summer Blast program and other youth activities.
• Assist with planning and implementation of age-appropriate activities.
• Provide excellent customer service and respond to inquiries and issues.
• Prepare, organize, and set up/break down equipment and facilities.
• Ensure safety and report incidents to management in a timely manner.
