Job summary

City of Fishers seeks a Spring 2027 Communications & Community Engagement Intern. The part-time internship runs January–May 2027 with potential extension into summer. Expect 20–25 hours weekly, including some nights and weekends for events, and in-person work about 3 days per week.

The role involves creating digital assets, drafting social posts, supporting media relations, and engaging with local businesses and organizations under the Public Relations & Community Engagement Department.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in college and pursuing a relevant degree.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
• Ability to work 20–25 hours per week, in-person 3 days.
• Experience with social media platforms in professional settings.
• Familiarity with creating graphics, photos, and video assets.

Responsibilities

• Execute communications strategies for the department.
• Create social media content (Instagram reels, stories, posts).
• Draft posts for City of Fishers' social media accounts.
• Research, interview, and author blog posts for the City’s blog.
• Assist with content buildout of the City’s website.
• Support media relations, including drafting releases and advisories.
• Coordinate with businesses and nonprofits on engagement initiatives.
• Assist with events and special projects, including on-site attendance.
