Job summary

City of Fishers offers a Public Health Intern position for Spring 2027 or Summer 2027. The internship is temporary/seasonal, with flexible start dates and hourly rates of $12.00 / $15.00 / $18.00 depending on education level.

Interns work under the Assistant Director across multiple health program areas in-person at FHD offices. Responsibilities include supporting health education, community outreach, and environmental health efforts, while gaining practical insight into local public health

Qualifications

• High school students in their junior or senior year.
• Undergraduate or graduate students pursuing public health, epidemiology, or related fields; or recent completion within 12 months.
• Valid Indiana driver’s license and insurability to drive city vehicles.
• Attention to detail is required.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Occasional evening and weekend hours may be needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist across program areas in community health, environmental health, epidemiology, and health education.
• Plan, coordinate, and support health education courses.
• Collaborate with Community Outreach Manager to develop partnerships and activities.
• Support evidence-based and actionable preventive programs addressing mental health, substance use, and social needs.
• Assist Health Inspectors with inspections, sample collection, and routine surveillance.
