Job summary

The Children's Museum is offering a Spring 2027 Community Initiatives Intern position. You will assist with community engagement activities and help reduce barriers to access, while supporting inclusive programming in the Mid-North area of Indianapolis.

Responsibilities include aiding promotional efforts, researching markets and vendors, coordinating events, and preparing post-event reports. The internship requires a year of college, strong communication, and weekend availability.

Qualifications

• Have completed at least one year of college.
• Have an academic background in nonprofit management, event management, marketing/communications, social work, education, family studies, museum studies, child development, psychology, sociology, or a related field.
• Have good oral and written communication skills.
• Have excellent organizational and research skills.
• Have web research skills and a basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Exhibit professional behavior and responsible work ethic.
• Have the ability to multi-task or effectively mono-task.
• Be available Saturdays and some evenings to help facilitate meetings, programs, and events.
• Be available to work a minimum of 12 hours per week/maximum of 15 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Assist with promotional efforts to drive enrollment and participation in community programs.
• Propose ideas to enhance the quality of community program offerings.
• Assist with market and/or vendor research to support programming and project needs.
• Support coordination efforts for community programs and/or event operations.
• Assist with pre- and post-event evaluations to help develop reports on program outcomes.
• Engage with established community relationships to help build trust and foster collaboration in support of diverse community needs.
• Complete additional community outreach and engagement tasks as assigned.
