Job summary

Fry YMCA in Naperville, IL is seeking a part-time Sports/Specialty Instructor to run age-appropriate sports and activities. You will teach fundamentals, supervise groups, and promote a positive, safe environment for participants and families.

Under the Program Director, you will plan programs, coordinate with parents, and support special events while ensuring equipment is maintained and safety protocols are followed.

Qualifications

• Prior sports experience as a player/coach or equivalence.
• Must be at least 16 years old.
• 1–3 years coaching preferred.
• Flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement sports or specialty program activities for different age groups.

# Sports InstructorFry YMCA - Naperville, IL 60564## OverviewSalary Range$17.05 - $17.05 HourlyPosition TypePart Time## Description**Job Summary and Key Accountabilities:**Under the direct supervision Of the Program Director, the Sports/Specialty Instructor will conduct sports or other specialty program activities and instruction for different age groups. Supervises a group of youth and/or adults. The Sports/Specialty Instructor Will instruct and supervise classes, practices, and/or games. Promotes a positive environment for program participants, parents/guardians, and staff.**Scope of Responsibilities*** Plans and implements sports/specialty programs in accordance with the goals and policies of the YMCA.* Coordinates activities which are culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate* Teach the fundamentals of sports/specialty program area by understanding program participant's age/skill level* Supervises a group Of youth and/or adults to ensure their health and safety, and to provide a positive experience for each person* Communicates With and maintains a positive relationship With parents/guardians* Provides day-to-day guidance to staff and volunteers* Maintain and promote a fair, consistent discipline code to all players* Ensure all equipment and gear is account for and maintained, notifies supervisor of equipment issues* Assists with development of special events and activities Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical situations, child abuse prevention, and emergency procedures* Supports the mission and values of the YMCA and Hub as assigned## Qualifications* Prior sports experience as a player/coach or equivalence* Minimum of 16 years of age or older* One to three years of coaching preferred* Continuous learner Who keeps abreast of industry trends, best practices and safety guidelines in order to innovate on and improve program quality and safety* Ability to quickly build effective and collaborative relationships with multiple, diverse stakeholders Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, when needed to achieve program goals* Meets physical qualifications required as Outlined in job description.
