Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta is seeking a Sports Specialty Instructor to deliver sport-specific training under the guidance of the Sports Directors. You will teach beginners, help athletes sharpen skills, and foster a safe, engaging learning environment.

Responsibilities include providing instruction in sports activities, participating in events, and maintaining strong relationships with schools, parents, and participants to support program goals.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years or older and high school diploma or GED.
• 2+ years coaching or instructing OR 2+ years college-level competitive experience.
• Must obtain required sport certifications within 30 days of hire.
• Instruct the sport including rules and technique.
• Ability to motivate, coach, and lead participants.
• Strong interpersonal communication, conflict management, and customer service.
• Maintain relationships with participants, parents, volunteers, and staff.
• Complete pre-employment background checks and obtain required certifications including CPR/First Aid.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction in sports activities.
• Participate in events and activities related to the sport.
• Maintain effective relationships with schools, parents, participants, and other groups.
• Create an environment that supports program goals with diverse activities.
• Answer inquiries and provide timely information.
• Attend staff meetings and required training.
• Conduct assessments of program participants.
