Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta invites applications for a Sports Specialty Instructor to lead sport-specific training and skill development. You will demonstrate rules, correct techniques, and support learners from beginners to advanced athletes in a community-focused setting.

Under the Sports Director, you’ll promote safety, build positive participant relationships, and align with our safety protocols and program guidelines while contributing to engaging youth and family activities.

Qualifications

• Must be 21+ years old with a high school diploma or GED.
• 2+ years of coaching or instructing OR 2+ years of competitive college-level experience in the sport.
• Must hold or be able to obtain required sport certifications (Safe Sport and CDC Heads Up Concussion) within 30 days of hire; CPR/First Aid as needed.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with participants, parents, and staff.
• Criminal background check required.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction in sports activities.
• Participate in special events and activities related to the sport.
• Maintain effective relationships with schools, parents, participants, and other groups.
• Create an environment that provides activities and instruction supporting program goals.
• Answer inquiries from participants, parents, volunteers, or other stakeholders promptly.
• Attend staff meetings and approved training as required.
• Conduct assessments of program participants.
