Job summary

Qualifications

• 3 months of experience in the culinary field.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and operating instructions.
• Ability to calculate figures such as proportions and percentages.
• Ability to follow written, oral, or diagrammed instructions.
• Must qualify for licensing with the West Virginia Racing Commission.
• Attend WV Food Handlers Class and pass certification.

Responsibilities

• Adjusts thermostat controls to regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, roasters, and steam kettles.
• Bakes, roasts, broils, and steams meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods.
• Adds seasoning to foods during mixing or cooking.
• Tastes and tests foods to ensure proper cooking.
• Carves meats and portions food for serving, with garnishes.
• Prepares vegetables and fruits; bakes bread and pastries as assigned.
• Follows PPE and safety guidelines; no supervisory responsibilities.
