Job summary

Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc. seeks an Associate Director, Sponsorships & Memberships to own end-to-end sponsorship and membership processes across therapeutic areas.

You will manage intake, evaluation, approval, contracting, payment, documentation, and closeout for a high-volume portfolio, coordinating with Legal, Compliance & Integrity, Finance, Procurement, and senior leadership. The role emphasizes risk-based, compliant decision making, strong stakeholder management, and ongoing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related scientific, business, or clinical discipline; advanced degree (MA/MS/MBA) preferred.
• 5+ years of relevant industry or academic experience with cross-functional experience across medical affairs, operations, finance, compliance, commercial, and/or business operations.
• Demonstrated experience independently managing complex, high-volume, externally facing operational processes; experience with sponsorships, memberships, grants, or funding processes strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of OIG, FDA, PhRMA, transparency, and organizational requirements, with the ability to apply established standards and elevate issues.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication, able to set expectations and build trusted relationships across functions.
• Cross-functional collaboration and influence with peers, senior management, committee members, and external organizations.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end sponsorship and membership process for assigned areas from intake through closeout.
• Triage and prioritize a high-volume portfolio to meet business, compliance, and timing requirements.
• Exercise delegated decision-making and approval authority as defined.
• Review and render final approval or denial decisions on sponsorships and memberships.
• Apply risk-based and compliant judgment aligning to policy and objectives.
• Escalate risks to the Funding Review Committee with recommendations.
• Guide internal and external customers through requirements and decisions.
• Establish service expectations and communicate standards across stakeholders.
• Ensure appropriate review, contracting, payment, and escalation pathways with senior management.
• Present requests and provide risk-based recommendations.
