Job description

Our client is a growth-stage software company building intelligent automation for finance teams. Private equity is its fastest-growing channel: the product lands at one portfolio company, a senior operating leader notices, and the conversation turns to rolling it out across the portfolio.

This is a business development role, not a closing role. You will turn sponsor relationships into warm, qualified pipeline for the sales team and be measured on the closed revenue you source.

As the first hire on this channel, you will build the playbook and prove it works before a team is added. You will report to the Chief Revenue Officer and work closely with the CEO.

What you’ll own

  • Building the channel from scratch: target firm list, outreach approach, sponsor value proposition, and handoff into sales
  • Cultivating relationships with 50 to 100 leading PE firms, including operating partners and portfolio operations, value creation, and finance leaders
  • Mapping sponsor portfolios, identifying companies with the financial complexity the product addresses, and securing warm introductions to CFOs and Controllers
  • Reporting weekly on firms engaged, companies introduced, meetings sourced, and closed revenue
  • Designing packaged multi-company deployments that sponsors can roll out across their portfolios
  • Turning customer wins into portfolio-wide conversations
  • Building presence through operating partner forums, events, and advisory firms
  • Partnering with Account Executives through close and with Marketing on sponsor-focused content
  • Feeding market insight back to the team on which firms convert and what the product needs

What we’re looking for

Must-have

  • Background in portfolio operations and value creation at a PE fund, with a focus on GPs rather than LPs
  • 3 to 10 years in a private equity partnerships role, with deep knowledge of the PE landscape

Nice-to-have

  • Relationships with operating partners, portfolio operations teams, or deal teams at mid-market and upper mid-market funds
  • Experience building a partnership or channel from scratch in B2B tech, ideally fintech, accounting, or ERP-adjacent software
  • Background at an advisory firm or B2B fintech company
