Job summary

Turner Construction Company is seeking a seasoned Superintendent to plan, lead, and coordinate Self-Perform Operations on SPO projects. You will supervise trades, ensure safety compliance, and integrate SPO activities into the overall project schedule to optimize production and delivery results.

You will develop hazard analyses with forepersons, manage staffing, monitor progress, and mentor forepersons while maintaining strong relationships with Owners, Architects, and Engineers.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of related experience managing self-perform work or equivalent.
• In-depth technical knowledge of self-perform work and related tools.
• Knowledge of building construction, means and methods, scheduling and cost control.
• Ability to communicate issues/risks to non-technical audiences.
• Knowledge of continuous improvement concepts and methodologies.
• Ability to read and interpret contract documents, drawings, and specs.
• In-depth knowledge of EH&S practices.
• Strong conceptual ability with limited information.
• Proficient project management skills and meeting deadlines.
• Leadership skills to mentor forepersons and manage teams.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Develop, manage, and implement the jobsite safety program with EH&S.
• Develop Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) with Forepersons.
• Foster a workplace with Turner’s Active Caring philosophy.
• Understand project scope, complexity, and contract.
• Sequence work to meet schedule; integrate SPO into the main schedule.
• Develop and integrate SPO work schedules into the project schedule.
• Oversee construction layout and surveying plans and performance.
• Establish production requirements with Trades Foreperson; monitor progress.
• Develop and implement resource management plans for scheduling and staffing.
• Monitor quantities and progress; share findings at meetings.
• Manage hiring/termination of Trade labor and communicate decisions.
• Monitor material deliveries per project schedule.
• Develop relationships with labor sources for staffing needs.
• Resolve field issues with Project leaders and stakeholders.
• Encourage foreperson development for career progression.
• Identify high-potential staff for progression.
• Validate monthly estimates, payrolls, and invoices.
• Ensure installation complies with contract documents.
• Estimate quantities and procure materials.
• Assist with bidding and perform constructability reviews.
