Job summary

Trafigura is seeking an Optimization Engineer to join the Refining Technical team in Houston, a hybrid technical-commercial role split between optimization on the splitter asset and commercial support for M&A activity, with emphasis on the Power business.

The candidate should have exposure to power and/or oil/refining assets, plus early-project delivery experience, and be comfortable interfacing with trading, deal teams and external advisers.

Qualifications

• Combined exposure to power and oil/refining assets, or vice versa.
• Early-career project engineering or project management on plant capital projects.
• Exposure to M&A processes, technical due diligence, or transaction support.

Responsibilities

• Splitter asset optimization supporting margin capture and feed selection.
• Provide technical and commercial due diligence for potential acquisitions.
• Interface with trading, business development, and external advisers during diligence.
