Sonoco Products Company in Dalton, GA is seeking a Spiral Technician for the 3rd shift. You will support the carpet yarn line, assist with machine setups, and perform preventive maintenance while ensuring safety and quality.

Strong communication and teamwork are essential as you interpret Oracle orders and track production metrics on the line. The role requires flexible hours, good attention to detail, and proactive problem solving to meet customer requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist carpet yarn line operator and crew on the carpet yarn line.
• Learn and perform machine and support equipment setup.
• Operate cutter for carpet yarn tubes and perform preventive maintenance.
• Enter Oracle data and track production metrics (scrap, efficiency, downtime, paper usage).
• Document and maintain machine logs and quality measurements.
• Support packaging, setup, quality requirements and related production tasks.

While reporting to the shift supervisor you will work in production for our tube and core division and be responsible for working in a quick and safe manner. Excellent attendance is crucial for the team to achieve success. You must have a proven record of success in a fast-paced environment, have the ability to work with various teams and have a good eye to spot defects in the packing line. You will take pride in your personal hands-on and analytical abilities, organizational skills and attention to detail.What you’ll be doing:This team member will be responsible for assisting and supporting the carpet yarn line operator and other members of the carpet yarn line crew.This position will be required to learn and perform all required machine and support equipment set ups.Mechanical skills to operate, set up, and trouble shoot equipment as required will also be needed.Ability to operate cutter for carpet yarn tubes.This team member will also be required to perform machine preventative maintenance on various pieces of equipment related to the carpet yarn line.The CYL assistant operator position will require proficiency level to operate machine on a substitute basis.We’d love to hear from you if:Excellent/strong communication skills.Excellent/strong housekeeping skills.Strong safety commitment.Ability to work flexible hours.Ability to interpret and understand Oracle production orders and requirements to enter required Oracle data.Report and track production information - scrap, machine efficiency, machine down time, paper usage.Assist other crew members as required - set ups, packaging aspects, quality requirements, and all other related production specs.Ability to document and maintain machine log.
