Job summary

Sonoco in Dalton, GA seeks a Spiral Technician on the 3rd shift to support the carpet yarn line and assist with setup, maintenance, and quality checks. You’ll monitor line performance, log machine data, and collaborate with teammates to ensure safe, efficient production. A keen eye for defects and strong reliability are essential for success.

• Ability to identify cost savings opportunities and communicate to management.

Responsibilities

• Assist and support the carpet yarn line operator and crew.
• Learn and perform machine and support equipment set ups.
• Operate, set up, and troubleshoot equipment as needed.
• Operate cutter for carpet yarn tubes.
• Perform machine preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Substitute operator on the CYL as needed.

Shift: 3rd shift
Pay: $21.53/hr

The Dalton, Ga plant has an opening for a Spiral Technician. While reporting to the shift supervisor you will work in production for our tube and core division and be responsible for working in a quick and safe manner. Excellent attendance is crucial for the team to achieve success. You must have a proven record of success in a fast-paced environment, have the ability to work with various teams and have a good eye to spot defects in the packing line. You will take pride in your personal hands-on and analytical abilities, organizational skills and attention to detail.

What You’ll Be Doing

• This team member will be responsible for assisting and supporting the carpet yarn line operator and other members of the carpet yarn line crew.
• This position will be required to learn and perform all required machine and support equipment set ups.
• Mechanical skills to operate, set up, and trouble shoot equipment as required will also be needed.
• Ability to operate cutter for carpet yarn tubes.
• This team member will also be required to perform machine preventative maintenance on various pieces of equipment related to the carpet yarn line.
• The CYL assistant operator position will require proficiency level to operate machine on a substitute basis.
