Job summary

Sonoco Products Company in Chestnut Hill, TN seeks a Production and Maintenance Technician Apprentice to join a 12‑hour rotating shift schedule (4 on/4 off) with a pay rate of $31.87 per hour. You will support maintenance tasks, perform quality checks, and assist with preventative maintenance and repairs on manufacturing equipment to keep production running smoothly.

Qualifications

• Experience in an industrial environment or military experience troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining manufacturing equipment.
• Experience with PLC troubleshooting and motor controls is a plus but not required.
• Comfortable with lifting up to 50 lbs and performing hands-on maintenance tasks.
• Able to work independently and manage multiple tasks on rotating shifts with overtime.

Responsibilities

• Maintain production equipment and perform quality checks during shifts.
• Perform preventative maintenance on a monthly basis.
• Operate, adjust, and repair equipment as needed to meet production goals.
• Inspect in-process and finished products, adhering to quality standards.
• Record machine data, maintenance tasks, and production figures in paper and computer systems.
• Supply and manage hand tools; keep work area clean and organized.

We're extremely proud of our portfolio of brands, our achievements in sustainability and industrialization and the groundbreaking work accomplished by our people.What You’ll Be Doing:Have a “Teamwork” and “Root Cause Problem Solving Mindset”Own and follow Safety policies and procedures.Complete training from positions of Production Associate to Assembly Mechanic.Daily job duties are Maintainer role in Production performing Quality checks and unplanned breakdown repair if requiredPerform preventative maintenance as required (On a monthly basis)Perform various manual or mechanical production functions by operating, adjusting, and repairing the equipment.Conduct inspection of in-process and finished products and adhere to quality standards.Jointly responsible for required operating data such as production figures, machine performance, efficiencies, maintenance, quality / spoilage.Record keeping of job tasks on paper and in computer system.Supply and maintain required hand tools.
