Responsibilities

As a speech-language pathologist, you help patients regain their ability to communicate. You help people communicate and swallow, and work to diminish or remediate disorders or deficits. You take responsibility for effectively and efficiently delivering rehab services, designing plans, and working with patients to execute them.

You're a healer and a helper, which is why you chose this line of work.

You are equally adept at addressing the whole patient and seeing each patient as an individual. You know your goal is to design a program that will restore, reinforce, and enhance their speech and communication abilities.

You adapt to the needs of patients and find joy in the variety of work settings. From cleaning equipment to attending meetings, you thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • A master's degree in speech-language pathology, communication disorders, communicative disorders, or a similarly titled area that is consistent with and acceptable to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
  • Licensed, certified, or credentialed as required by the state of practice.
