Job summary

St. Charles Health System, in partnership with Lifepoint Rehabilitation, seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist to join a 13-bed acute rehabilitation unit. This PRN role focuses on maximizing speech, language, cognitive and swallowing abilities for adult and geriatric patients.

You will document care, communicate progress to the team, and educate families while maintaining equipment and complying with regulatory standards. Eligible for comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Masters in Speech-Language Pathology required or equivalent
  • Current State license in Speech Language Pathology expected
  • Certification with ASHA preferred or CCC-SLP
  • Experience with adult/geriatric populations desired
  • CPR certification current preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide therapy to maximize speech, language, cognitive and swallowing abilities for adults and geriatrics
  • Document patient care in accordance with regulatory and accrediting requirements
  • Communicate patient progress to supervisor and team
  • Instruct patients' families or nursing staff on follow-through programs
  • Maintain equipment and work area in a safe and clean condition
  • Adhere to company policies and applicable state/federal laws
  • Perform other duties as assigned

St. Charles Health System is a 13-bed acute rehabilitation unit dedicated to helping patients who are recovering from various injuries or illnesses. In partnership with Lifepoint Rehabilitation, this facility provides 24 hours of nursing care and intensive inpatient therapy to provide an outstanding experience and quality outcomes for all of the patients we serve.

How You'll Contribute
  • Play an important part in helping our patient to recover and feel better about themselves by providing therapy to maximize speech, language, cognitive and swallowing abilities
  • Communicate patient progress or problems to supervisor and other team members; assist with patient scheduling and post charges daily to patient records
  • Document patient care in accordance with regulatory, licensing, payer and accrediting requirements
  • Instruct patient's family or nursing staff in follow-through programs
  • Maintain equipment and work area in a safe and clean condition
  • Handle job responsibilities in accordance with the Company's Code of Business Conduct, the Corporate Compliance Agreement, appropriate professional standard and applicable state/federal laws
  • Other duties as assigned

What We're Looking For
  • Graduate of a master's level program in Speech Language Pathology which is accredited by Education Standards Board or whose practice meets ASHA certification requirements
  • Meet the education and experience requirements for Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology or Audiology granted by ASHA
  • Minimum of six months speech therapist / speech language pathologist experience working with an adult and geriatric population
  • Current and unrestricted Speech Language Pathologist license in the state where services are rendered
  • Current CPR certification
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
