Job summary

IU Health is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist to provide home-based, direct therapy and consultative services to pediatric patients through Indiana’s Early Intervention program. You will work with families in their natural environment to support speech, language, and feeding/swallowing development.

The role requires a Master's in Speech-Language Pathology, Indiana licensure, and ASHA CCC or eligibility.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in speech-language pathology or equivalent per Indiana PLA.
  • 0–3 years of relevant experience.
  • Current licensure in Indiana.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the AHA.
  • May require credentialing as an early interventionist.
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) or eligibility.
  • Advanced life support certifications may be required per unit.

Responsibilities

  • Provides home-based, direct therapy intervention and consultative services to patients.
  • Serves children birth to three through Indiana's Early Intervention Program, First Steps.
  • Collaborates with families in natural environments using evidence-based treatments.
  • Completes developmental assessments and refers for medical or other services as needed.
  • Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team of professionals.

Overview
Location:

Southeastern Johnson County and Shelby County

Requirements:
  • Requires a Master's Degree from an accredited academic program in speech pathology; or, if foreign trained, graduation from a speech pathology education program outside the US with educationally equivalent coursework accepted by Indiana PLA.
  • Requires 0-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Requires current licensure in the state of Indiana.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • May require credentialing for certification as an early interventionist.
  • Requires a certificate of clinical competence awarded by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or eligibility for this certificate.
  • Advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
Roles and Responsibilities:

Provides home-based, direct therapy intervention and consultative services to patients. Patient population may comprise children ages birth to three through Indiana's Early Intervention Program, First Steps. Provides services in collaboration with the family's natural environment via evidence-based treatments and early intervention practices that address speech, language, and feeding/swallowing development in accordance with the established Individualized Family Service Plan. Completes developmental assessments and refers for medical or other professional services that may be necessary for the habilitation or rehabilitation of children with communication or language disorders and delays in development of communication skills. Collaborates with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals.
