Job summary

Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) - PRN

Compensation: $60.00 - $65.00 / hour

Employment Type: PRN (As Needed)

Setting: Post-Acute / Skilled Nursing Facility

General Purpose

At McClure Post Acute, we are dedicated to providing exceptional, compassionate care that helps our residents regain their independence and quality of life. We are seeking a skilled and passionate Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) on a PRN basis to join our collaborative interdisciplinary team.

In this role, you will evaluate and treat residents, communicate effectively with families, physicians, and health team members, and maintain meticulous documentation. You will also play a key role in clinical education by conducting ongoing in-services and training for our facility staff.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Evaluations & Care Planning: Evaluate residents to determine speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing therapy needs, functional limitations, and rehabilitation potential in accordance with physician orders and facility policies.
  • Treatment Implementation: Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans designed to improve communication, cognition, swallowing safety, and overall functional independence.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Communicate regularly with physicians, nursing staff, interdisciplinary team members, residents, and families regarding patient progress, goals, and comprehensive discharge planning.
  • Staff Training & Support: Assist the nursing department with the training of Restorative Aides and provide clinical in-services and training programs for facility staff as needed.
  • Clinical Supervision: Supervise Speech-Language Pathologist Clinical Fellows (CFY) or students in resident care and resident-related activities, strictly adhering to the state practice act.
  • Meetings & Care Conferences: Actively participate in Resident Care conferences, Utilization Review (UR) meetings, and Rehabilitation department meetings as required.
  • Documentation: Complete timely, accurate, and compliant documentation in accordance with facility, governmental, and third-party payer requirements.
  • Safety & Compliance: Maintain a safe treatment environment by following strict infection control, safety, and equipment maintenance protocols.
  • Patient & Family Education: Educate residents, families, and caregivers on treatment goals, maintenance programs, and safety techniques, and vital aspiration prevention strategies.
  • Equipment Coordination: Recommend and facilitate the ordering of necessary durable medical equipment to support resident independence in swallowing and cognition.
  • Quality Improvement: Contribute to quality assurance, performance improvement initiatives, and facility rehabilitation program development as assigned.
  • Professionalism: Maintain a positive, effective, and appropriate professional relationship with residents, families, staff, and colleagues.
Supervisory Requirements
  • Supervises CFY (Speech Clinical Fellows) and SLP students, when applicable.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Current, unrestricted Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) license in the state of California.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred; open to supervising Clinical Fellows (CFY).
