Qualifications

  • Understanding of special education procedures, IEP development, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience providing speech and language services in a school or educational setting preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary educational team.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive speech, language, and communication assessments using standardized tests and other appropriate evaluation tools.
  • Identify students' speech, language, and communication needs and develop appropriate intervention plans.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and speech-language goals.
  • Provide individual and small-group speech and language therapy based on students' specific needs.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust therapy strategies and intervention plans as needed.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, administrators, special education staff, and other related-service professionals.
  • Provide consultation and recommendations to teachers and families regarding strategies to support students' communication skills.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and other student-support meetings as required.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including evaluations, treatment records, progress reports, and recommendations.
  • Ensure services are provided in accordance with applicable Illinois special education requirements and district policies.
