Job Responsibilities

The Speech Language Pathologist / SLP is responsible for the assessment of referred patients that require treatment for speech, hearing and/or language deficits. The role involves teaching patients to make sounds, improve voice, and increase oral or written language skills for more effective communication. Additionally, the SLP teaches individuals how to strengthen muscles or use compensatory strategies to swallow safely, preventing choking or inhalation of food or liquid. The SLP works within an interdisciplinary team to develop a plan of care, provides skilled speech therapy services in accordance with physician orders, assesses patient needs, plans, evaluates, and modifies care to meet goals, and sets realistic, achievable goals to develop or recover reliable communication and swallowing skills for educational, vocational, and social roles.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school.
• Current state license as a Speech Language Pathologist / SLP or proactively in the process of obtaining licensure.
• Current Certified Clinical Competency (CCCs).
• Current CPR certification.
• Experience working within an interdisciplinary team.
• Ability to develop, plan, evaluate, and modify care plans; set realistic goals.
