Job summary

Deerparkhc is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to evaluate, diagnose, and treat residents with speech, language, voice, communication, and swallowing disorders. The SLP will create individualized therapy plans to maximize communication and swallow safety, improving residents’ overall quality of life.

The role requires graduate-level SLP training, state licensure, CPR, and experience in long-term care settings is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.
  • Current state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the state of practice.
  • CCC-SLP certification preferred.
  • CPR certification required or to be obtained upon hire.
  • Experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting preferred.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of speech, language, cognitive-linguistic, and swallowing abilities.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for residents.
  • Provide therapy services including speech, language, voice, fluency, cognitive-communication, and swallowing interventions.
  • Monitor and document residents’ progress, adjusting therapy plans as needed.
  • Collaborate with nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and physicians for coordinated care.
  • Educate residents, families, and caregivers on strategies to support communication and safe swallowing.

Job description

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) will be responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating residents with speech, language, voice, communication, and swallowing disorders. The SLP will develop individualized therapy plans to help residents maximize their communication abilities, improve swallowing safety, and enhance overall quality of life.

Speech-Language Pathologist Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess speech, language, communication, cognitive-linguistic, and swallowing abilities.

  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to residents’ needs and goals.

  • Provide therapy services including speech, language, voice, fluency, cognitive-communication, and swallowing interventions.

  • Monitor and document residents’ progress, making necessary adjustments to therapy plans.

  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and physicians to provide coordinated care.

  • Educate residents, families, and caregivers on strategies to support communication, safe swallowing, and carryover of therapy techniques.

  • Ensure compliance with facility policies, professional standards, and state/federal regulations.

Speech-Language Pathologist Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited Speech-Language Pathology program (Master’s degree required).

  • Current and valid state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred.

  • CPR certification required (or must obtain upon hire).

  • Experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting preferred.

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
