Responsibilities

  • Screen, evaluate, and diagnose speech/language disorders and determine eligibility.
  • Develop goals, objectives, methods, and materials for student progress.
  • Ensure correct implementation of IEP goals and objectives.
  • Provide speech/language services in compliance with regulations.
  • Maintain student records per district and state rules.
  • Create an instructional environment conducive to learning.
  • Establish clear rules and enforce them fairly.
  • Consult with principals, clinicians, teachers, parents, and agencies.
  • Strive to maintain and improve professional competency.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on committees.
  • Participate in staff development programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by principal and Director of Special Services.

Job Summary

  • Develop goals, objectives, methods, and materials to assist students in achieving their highest potential
  • Ensure correct implementation of the students' IEP goals and objectives
  • Provides speech/language services in full compliance with district, state, and federal regulations
  • Maintain student records in compliance with district, state, and federal regulations
  • Create an instructional environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students
  • Establish and communicate to students and parents clear and appropriate rules and consequences for student behavior and enforces rules in a fair and consistent manner
  • Consult with principals, clinicians, teachers, parents, and other agencies, as needed
  • Strive to maintain and improve professional competency
  • Attend school and district staff meetings and serve on committees, as required
  • Participate in staff development programs
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal and the Director of Special Services
