Job summary

Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital, Towanda Campus is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to provide therapy targeting speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing abilities. You will participate in patient assessment, documentation, and interdisciplinary care planning.

The role requires a Master’s in Speech Language Pathology, ASHA CCC eligibility or certification, and licensure in the state. Experience with adults and geriatrics is preferred; CPR is required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited program.
• ASHA CCC or eligibility for CCC-A.
• Minimum six months experience with adult/geriatric populations.
• Current and unrestricted SLP license in the state where services are rendered.
• Current CPR certification.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide therapy to maximize speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing abilities.
• Communicate patient progress to supervisor and assist with scheduling and post charges.
• Document patient care in accordance with regulatory and payer requirements.
• Instruct patient’s family or nursing staff in follow-through programs.
• Maintain equipment and work area in a safe and clean condition.
• Perform other duties as assigned in accordance with policies.

Formerly known as Towanda Memorial Hospital, this facility is a satellite campus of Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital, located 17 miles north in Sayre, Pa.

The Towanda campus joined Guthrie in April 2015, serving Bradford and Sullivan counties, offering ease of access to clinical services to those in the surrounding communities. Long-term care services are also provided for patients with a 68-bed skilled nursing unit and a 94-bed personal care home.

How you'll contribute

ASpeech Language Pathologist (SLP)who excels in this role:

• Play an important part in helping our patient to recover and feel better about themselves by providing therapy to maximize speech, language, cognitive and swallowing abilities


• Communicate patient progress or problems to supervisor and other team members; assist with patient scheduling and post charges daily to patient records


• Document patient care in accordance with regulatory, licensing, payer and accrediting requirements


• Instruct patient's family or nursing staff in follow-through programs


• Maintain equipment and work area in a safe and clean condition


• Handle job responsibilities in accordance with the Company's Code of Business Conduct, the Corporate Compliance Agreement, appropriate professional standards and applicable state/federal laws


• Other duties as assigned

What we're looking for

• Applicants should be agraduate of a master's level program in Speech Language Pathology which is accredited by Education Standards Board or whose practice meets ASHA certification requirements.Additional requirements include:


• Meet the education and experience requirements for Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology or Audiology granted by ASHA


• Minimum of six months speech therapist / speech language pathologist experience working with an adult and geriatric population


• Current and unrestricted Speech Language Pathologist license in the state where services are rendered


• Current CPR certification


• Strong organizational and communication skills
