Job description

The Speech Language Pathologist I assesses and treats patients with speech, language, voice, fluency, swallowing, and cognitive disorders. This role involves implementing care plans using evidence-based modalities, including patient and family education and skilled interventions to help patients achieve mutually established functional goals. The position requires monitoring and evaluating outcomes related to assessment and care plans. The Speech Language Pathologist I operates under guidance and mentorship for essential job functions.

Responsibilities:
  1. Assist in comprehensive evaluations of patients with speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders to analyze communication and oral motor skills.
  2. Support the development and implementation of evidence-based, personalized treatment plans based on assessment findings, patient goals, and individual needs.
  3. Educate patients and their families on treatment plans, home exercises, and self-management techniques to enhance recovery outcomes.
  4. Monitor and document patients' progress, treatment outcomes, and responses to interventions to adjust treatment plans as needed.
  5. Collaborate with team members to develop and implement discharge plans and recommendations for continued care, possibly requiring guidance from other professionals.
  6. Report progress and current status to relevant parties, including family members or medical professionals.
  7. Perform other duties as reasonably required or assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Master's degree in Speech Pathology (Required)
  • Experience: [Specify if any experience required or preferred]
  • Licensure/Certification:
    • Certificate of Clinical Competence by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or eligibility through a Clinical Fellowship Year.
    • Licensed by the North Carolina Board for Speech Pathologists and Audiologists during the Supervised Experience Year.
    • BLS (CPR) certification from American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
