Salary Range $84.00 - $84.00 Hourly

Description

Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center is looking for licensed pediatric Speech Language Pathologists who are interested in picking up cases working with school‑age students during the school day and/or after school hours. We have cases available throughout Western New York and services will occur in schools, homes, and/or other community locations.

  • $42 per completed 30 minute session
  • $63 per completed 45 minute session
  • $84 per completed 60 minute session
Essential Functions
  • Display competence in the area of speech‑language impairment (either licensed or under the careful direction & supervision of a licensed SLP). Determines type and severity of speech‑language impairment, under careful supervision if unlicensed SLP. Determines prognosis and appropriate treatment for speech‑language impairments.
  • Evaluation, diagnosis, and recommendation for therapeutic intervention for individuals with communication disorders. Working collaboratively with other professionals such as the classroom teacher, other SLPs, OTs, PTs, Audiologists, supervisors and others as appropriate.
  • Implementation of an appropriate Speech‑Language Pathology treatment program.
  • Submits written reports of the evaluations, treatment plans, progress reports, and discharge reports as appropriate. Maintains paperwork within legal and agency guidelines. Ensures paperwork is completed in a timely and organized fashion.
  • Makes appropriate referrals as needed in order to affect positive therapeutic results.
  • Communicates regularly with family/client.
  • Exhibits professional judgment, maturity, and upgrades professional knowledge through involvement in continuing education programs. Participates in the delivery of and/or attends in‑service programs. Participates in formal staff training. Maintains SLP licensure and TSSLD certification.
  • Licensed Speech Pathologists are required to supervise CFYs appropriately, ensuring legal guidelines and agency policies are precisely followed.
  • Any other duties as requested by your supervisor.
Required Education Requirements

Master’s degree from University/College of accredited speech‑language pathology program.

Required License/Registration/ Certification
  • New York State licensed Speech‑Language Pathologist.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech‑Language Pathology issued by the American Speech‑Language Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD) Initial or Professional certificate or TSHH Permanent certificate.
Physical Requirements
  • Physical actions may include, but are not limited to, bending, kneeling, standing, squatting, reaching, printing, crawling, and running.
  • Vision, speech, tactical and hearing senses adequate to perform job requirements.
  • Frequent sitting/standing and when appropriate, floor sitting with pediatric patients.
