Job summary

Brookville Center for Children's Services seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist to deliver in-home/community evaluations and therapy for children birth to 3 with developmental delays or disabilities. You will assess needs, design intervention per IEP/IFSP, and train teachers and families to carry over goals at home and in the classroom.

Requirements include a Master’s in SLP, NYS license, ASHA CCC, and NYSED TSHH/TSSLD or equivalent. NYS Medicaid enrollment is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • New York State licensed and registered Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA.
  • Certification by NYS Education Department as a Teacher of Speech and Hearing Handicapped (TSHH) OR Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD).
  • NYS Medicaid enrolled provider.
  • Knowledge of diagnosis and treatment of speech-language disorders as normally acquired through a Master’s degree in speech-language pathology.
  • Minimum (1) year related work experience with preschool and school age special needs population preferred.
  • Experience in PROMPT preferred.
  • Physical capacity: lifting and transferring of a child/student.
  • Demonstrate Cultural Competency.

Responsibilities

  • Assess students’ needs through a variety of formal and informal measures.
  • Develop and implement appropriate strategies for intervention as per the child’s IEP/IFSP.
  • Conduct training sessions for teachers, staff and/or families in speech-language intervention.
  • Inform team members of students’ progress on goals and provide activities to be carried over into the classroom/home environments.
  • Respond quickly to children and/or parents/guardians’ request and inform supervisor of actions taken.
  • Promote positive co-worker relationships, teamwork and cooperation; work collaboratively and respectfully.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and the ability to handle numerous responsibilities.
  • Participate in supervision and implement recommendations appropriately.

Education

Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
New York State licensed and registered Speech-Language Pathologist
Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA
NYSED certification as TSHH or TSSLD
NYS Medicaid enrolled provider
Knowledge of diagnosis and treatment of speech-language disorders
Minimum 1 year related work experience with preschool and school age population
Experience with PROMPT
Physical capacity: lifting and transferring a child/student
Demonstrate Cultural Competency
