Job summary

Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to support students in a Buffalo-area school (K-8) within our contracts program. Roles are available in full-time or part-time capacities.

CFY candidates and licensed therapists are encouraged to apply. A free continuing education program and ASHA dues reimbursement are provided for eligible employees, with a potential sign-on bonus up to $2,500 paid at hiring and after six months.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.

Responsibilities

  • Imparting knowledge via the implementation of Speech-Language Pathology instruction.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and plan treatment for communication disorders, collaborating with teachers and other professionals.
  • Prepare and submit evaluation, progress, and discharge reports according to policy and timelines.
  • Supervise CFYs and TSSLDs when licensed.
  • Maintain licensure and TSSLD certification.

Join our great team of professionals! Buffalo Hearing & Speech is hosting open interviews for full-time or part-time Speech Language Pathologists. Our SLPs are responsible for the evaluation, diagnosis, and implementation of appropriate treatment programs throughout our contract sites.

We will consider CFY candidates and licensed therapists for Full Time, Part Time, and Fee for Service positions.

BHSC provides a free continuing education program to employees as well as professional dues reimbursement for full time and part time employees.

Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center is seeking a full-time or part-time Speech Language Pathologist for our contracts program, to work in a Buffalo area school with students in grades K-8th. BHSC provides a free continuing education program as well as yearly ASHA dues reimbursement for eligible full time employees.

Essential Functions
  • Imparting knowledge via the implementation of appropriate Speech-Language Pathology instruction
  • Display competence in the area of speech-language impairment (either licensed or under the careful direction and supervision of a licensed SLP). Determines type and severity of speech-language impairment, under careful supervision if unlicensed SLP. Determines prognosis and appropriate instruction and treatment for speech-language impairments.
  • Evaluation, diagnosis, and recommendation for therapeutic intervention for individuals with communication disorders. Working collaboratively with other professionals such as the classroom teacher, other SLPs, OTs, PTs, Audiologists, supervisors and other as appropriate.
  • Submits written reports of the evaluations, treatment and educational plans, progress reports, and discharge reports as appropriate. Maintain paperwork within legal and agency guidelines. Ensures paperwork is completed in a timely and organized fashion.
  • Makes appropriate referrals as needed in order to affect positive therapeutic results.
  • Communicates regularly with family/student.
  • Exhibit professional judgment, maturity, and upgrades professional knowledge through involvement in continuing education programs. Participate in the delivery of and/or attend in-service programs. Participate in formal staff training. Maintain SLP licensure and TSSLD certification.
  • Licensed Speech Pathologists are required to supervise CFYs and TSSLDs appropriately, ensuring legal guidelines and agency policies are precisely followed.
  • Any other duty as requested by your supervisor.
Education Required
  • Master’s degree from University/College of accredited speech language pathology program
Required License/Registration/ Certification
  • New York State licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (or CFY eligible)
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology issued by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) (or CFY eligible)
  • Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD) Initial or Profession certificate or TSHH Permanent certificate
Physical Requirements
  • Physical actions may include, but are not limited to; bending, kneeling, standing, squatting, reaching, printing, crawling, and running.
  • Vision, speech, tactical and hearing senses adequate to perform job requirements.
  • Frequent sitting/ standing and when appropriate, floor sitting with pediatric patients.
