Job summary

Midwest Health, Inc. is seeking a Speech Pathologist to assess, diagnose, treat and help prevent speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, swallowing, fluency and related disorders in residents. You will follow facility policies and perform other duties as assigned.

The role requires effective communication, collaboration with the rehabilitation team, and adherence to documentation standards while delivering compassionate care in a facility setting.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• Must have basic computer skills.
• Must be able to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Report witnessed or reported allegations of resident abuse/neglect immediately to the Administrator or Director of Nursing.
• Treat residents, family members, visitors, and team members with dignity and respect.
• Maintain the confidentiality of all resident and family information.
• Report to work on time and as scheduled.
• Responsible for identification of patients demonstrating communication and swallow deficits.
• Responsible for evaluating the patient within one business day of written referral from the Doctor.
• After evaluating the patient, plan and administer an appropriate treatment plan and communicate with the referring physician and rehabilitation team.
• Maintain an accurate daily record of treatments given to patients including billing and charting.
• Follow weekly documentation guidelines for all residents treated.
• Provide in-service education to facilities, supportive staff, students and community.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Will attain an efficiency standard for delivery of speech language pathology services.
