Reports to: Special Education Director
Classification: Certified Exempt – Full-Time (1.0 FTE / 40 hours per week)
Contract Period: 185 working days.
Salary Range
- *$56,809 to $89,509 (Based on education and years of relevant working experience). *The annual salary listed above is based on a full-time, 8-hour workday (FTE 1) and a full working calendar. For positions with less than a full FTE or reduced hours, such as part-time or late-start positions, the salary will be prorated accordingly.

Position Overview
- The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) will diagnose and treat speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders in patients aged 0-21. They will assess patient abilities, develop personalized treatment plans, and deliver therapy using evidence-based practices. The SLP will also educate and support patients and families, maintain comprehensive records, collaborate with other healthcare professionals, and supervise the Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA). In contrast, the Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) will work under the supervision of the SLP to assist with therapy sessions. They will help implement treatment plans, prepare materials, document patient progress, and provide patient support.
Necessary Credentials
- Bachelor degree or higher in Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) or equivalent OR Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) or equivalent (required for Colorado Department of Education licensure).
- Must be eligible for licensure through the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) as a Special Services Provider in Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant OR Speech-Language Pathologist.
- ASHA Certification preferred.

Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP):
- Conduct evaluations and diagnose speech/language disorders.
- Develop and provide therapy for speech, language, and swallowing issues.
- Use evidence-based practices for treatment.
- Educate and support patients and families.
- Work with other professionals and refer when necessary.
- Stay current with new research and techniques.
- Oversee SLPAs.
- Help with screenings and observations under SLP supervision.
- Carry out therapy activities as directed by SLPs.
- Record patient progress and session details.
- Assist with exercises and create a supportive environment.
- Prepare materials and assist in therapy setup.
- Follow SLP’s guidance, without diagnosing or planning treatment.
- Communicate with patients and team members.
- Ensure ethical practices and patient confidentiality.
Physical Requirements
- May include light travel, standing and walking for extended periods; bend, stoop, and lift materials; reach for supplies on high shelves; use manual dexterity for tasks like writing and using technology; communicate clearly and effectively with students; climb stairs in multi-level buildings.
