Job summary

Onward Education in the Wheeling, IL area is seeking a part-time, on-site Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) for the 2026–2027 school year. You will evaluate students, provide direct services, collaborate with educators and families, and support IEP goals related to speech, language, and social communication.

You’ll work 20 hours/week, on-site, starting August 24, 2026 and concluding May 21, 2027. Join a multidisciplinary team focused on helping students access learning and thrive socially.

Qualifications

  • Experience in multidisciplinary teams preferred.
  • AAC exposure is a plus for communication supports.

Onward Education is partnering with a school program in the Wheeling, IL area to hire a part-time, on-site Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) for the 2026–2027 school year. This role supports students’ communication and language development so they can access learning and thrive socially and emotionally.

Brief Role Summary

In this school-based SLP role, you’ll evaluate students, provide direct services, collaborate with educators and families, and support IEP goals related to speech, language, and social communication. You’ll play a key role on multidisciplinary teams and help create a learning environment where every student can communicate effectively.

  • Schedule: Part-time (20 hours/week)

  • School Year: 2026–2027
  • Anticipated Start: August 24, 2026
  • Anticipated End: May 21, 2027
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct student screenings and evaluations to identify speech, language, communication, and, when applicable, swallowing needs.
  • Use appropriate assessment tools to evaluate areas such as articulation/speech sound production, receptive and expressive language, fluency, voice, and pragmatic/social communication.
  • Develop and support IEPs and/or 504 Plans aligned to student needs.
  • Provide direct therapy and service delivery for students with identified speech and language needs.
  • Support students who use AAC (Augmentative & Alternative Communication) systems when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with teachers, families, and related service providers to integrate communication goals into classroom routines and share strategies that support carryover and progress.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, progress monitoring, and documentation.
  • Maintain compliant documentation and uphold applicable federal and state requirements, including IDEA.
Qualifications:
  • Professional Educator License (PEL) required.
  • School-based experience and comfort working on multidisciplinary teams is strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting language, articulation, fluency, and social communication needs; AAC exposure is a plus.
