Qualifications

As a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP), you will provide speech therapy services to designated students according to diagnoses and client needs to achieve speech therapy goals and improve overall speech functioning. This includes but is not limited to direct instruction, prescriptive evaluation, consulting with school staff, parents or guardians, and representatives from the home school district, writing IEP goals and interventions, monitoring students' progress toward goals, and attending IEP meetings.

  • Responsibilities Include:
  • Evaluating, planning, and implementing appropriate individualized speech therapy programs for each student based on treatment plan goals developed in partnership with educators and parents.
  • Monitoring services and providing progress information that will enable each student to develop their personal goals, preferences, and needs.
  • Employing speech therapy strategies and techniques during each session to improve speech and communication skills, receptive and expressive language, cognition, and memory while meeting the individual age-appropriate needs of each child in their natural environment.
  • Writing periodic reviews on students' progress, updating treatment teams, and making necessary changes to services.
  • Managing case records according to agency policy and state regulations and familiarizing with child's records.
  • Maintaining and compiling authorized session documentation and completing accurate billing within 24 hours of client visits.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective communication with families regarding scheduling and make-up sessions.
  • Communicating activities necessary for carryover of speech and communication goals with parents and related service providers.
  • Conducting and overseeing clinical assessments and managing implementation to ensure best clinical practices.
  • Ensuring initial client intakes are timely, treatment programs are regularly evaluated, and clinical goals are achieved.
  • Improving clinical standards by conducting training sessions, sharing knowledge, and counseling the clinical team.
  • Collaborating and building rapport with clients and families to improve outcomes.
  • Providing supervision and support to clients and caregivers, and periodically traveling to various locations as needed.
  • Partnering with other professionals and participating in team meetings.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required:

  • Master's degree or higher in speech pathology or a closely related field.
  • Currently licensed or in the process of obtaining a CA state SLP credential.
  • Prior experience and/or knowledge in special education services and compliance, particularly for students with autism-related disabilities.
  • Proven success in developing and implementing effective treatment plans for students with diverse needs.
  • Proficiency in motivating students and having critical conversations to move them toward goals.
  • Advanced communication, organization, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant technology including instructional tech, Microsoft Office, database entry, and basic office equipment.
