AVIR at Victoria is seeking a compassionate and skilled Per Diem Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide high-quality speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing services to residents in a skilled nursing and rehabilitation environment.

The SLP will evaluate residents, develop individualized treatment plans, provide therapeutic interventions, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to support each resident’s functional independence and quality of life.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Texas license or eligibility for Texas licensure.
  • CCC-SLP certification from ASHA or applicable fellowship status.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing evaluations.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on residents’ needs and goals.
  • Provide skilled speech-language therapy per treatment plans.
  • Assess and treat swallowing and feeding difficulties with safe recommendations.
  • Address communication, cognition, memory, and functional deficits.
  • Collaborate with nursing, dietary, therapy, medical, and other team members.
  • Complete timely clinical documentation, evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and facility regulations and standards.

Position Summary

AVIR at Victoria is seeking a compassionate and skilled Per Diem Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide high-quality speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing services to residents. The SLP will evaluate residents, develop individualized treatment plans, provide therapeutic interventions, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to support each resident’s functional independence and quality of life.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing evaluations.

  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on residents’ needs, diagnoses, goals, and functional abilities.

  • Provide skilled speech-language therapy in accordance with established treatment plans.

  • Assess and treat swallowing and feeding difficulties and provide appropriate recommendations for safe oral intake.

  • Address communication, cognition, memory, problem-solving, and other functional deficits.

  • Monitor resident progress and modify treatment plans as clinically appropriate.

  • Educate residents, families, caregivers, and facility staff regarding communication, cognition, and swallowing strategies.

  • Collaborate with nursing, dietary, therapy, medical, and other interdisciplinary team members.

  • Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation, evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries.

  • Maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and facility regulations and professional standards.

  • Participate in care planning and communicate resident progress and recommendations to the appropriate team members.

  • Promote resident dignity, safety, independence, and quality of life.

Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.

  • Current Texas Speech-Language Pathologist license or eligibility for Texas licensure.

  • Current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA, or appropriate clinical fellowship status as applicable.

  • Current CPR/BLS certification, if required by facility policy.

  • Previous experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, rehabilitation, or geriatric care is preferred.

  • Strong clinical, communication, organizational, and documentation skills.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with an interdisciplinary team.

  • Commitment to providing compassionate, resident-centered care.

Schedule

Per Diem / PRN: Flexible scheduling based on facility and resident needs.
