Job summary

Little City in Palatine, IL is seeking a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist to deliver school-based services on the Main Campus Center for Education. This full-time role involves supporting students on IEPs in line with Illinois ISBE requirements.

You will collaborate with classroom teams to develop IEP goals, monitor progress, and maintain documentation throughout the school year. Strong communication with families and staff is essential.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology is required.
• Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA is required.
• Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist in Illinois is required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and collaborate IEP goals based on assessments.
• Create IEPs with annual and short-term goals for each student.
• Participate in IEP meetings and document progress.
• Maintain records and ensure compliance with ISBE regulations.
• Operate clinical equipment and provide therapy minutes as required.

Purpose

To deliver Speech therapy services as mandated on student IEP’s in accordance with Illinois State Board of Education requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• 1. Develop in collaboration with team members, appropriate IEP goals based on formal and informal assessment results.
• 2. Develop an Individualized Education Program (IEP) stating the annual and short term goals for each child’s current level of functioning, and objectives to meet each child’s needs
• 3. Participate in IEP meetings as required throughout the school year.
• 4. Submit quarterly progress reports to lead teacher/team in a timely manner for distribution to parents/guardians.
• 5. Update quarterly benchmarks related to IEP goals at designated times.
• 6. Maintain all records and implement all procedures in accordance with Illinois and Federal Rules and Regulations.
• 7. Sets up and operates clinical equipment (e.g., assistive listening devices, augmentative and alternative communication devices, computers).
• 8. Serve as a communication consultant and resource person to classroom teachers, school personnel and parents/guardians. These services may take the form of conferences, classroom demonstrations or other consultation models/ activities.
• 9. In collaborations with the classroom teams, arrange for and perform activities, materials, and prompting activities that relate to IEP goals throughout the school year.
• 10. Provide and documents direct/consult therapy minutes as required on each student IEP on caseload throughout the school year.
• 11. Interact with school team regarding recommendations throughout the school year.
• 12. Participate in all classroom team meetings on caseload throughout the school year.
• 13. Participate in all scheduled in-house training throughout the school year.
• 14. Complete progress/contact notes on appropriate form and maintain in specified location throughout the school year.
• 15. Establish and maintain a consistent form of communication with the parents/guardians of students as needed on caseload throughout the school year.
• 16. Provide support, resources, and recommendations for classrooms on caseload as needed throughout the school year.
• 17. Provide supervision to interns, paraprofessionals or speech & language assistants throughout the school year.
• 18. Manages inventory of therapeutic equipment and assessments, and project needs for budget planning.
• 19. Adheres to federal and state legislation, regulation, and policies that affect speech and language therapy practice.
• 20. Maintains American Heart Association certification in First Aid and CPR.
• 21. Successfully completes Little City Foundation required training, re-training, and any additional training as required by Little City Foundation policies and practices, or as assigned by his or her immediate supervisor.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Must have a Master’s Degree in Speech/Language Pathology, valid Professional Educator License with a Speech/Language Pathology endorsement. Must hold a certificate of clinical competence from American Speech Language and Hearing Association and Appropriate Speech-Language Pathology Licensure in accordance with Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations. Previous experience working with special needs/ autism students preferred.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is subject to sitting for prolonged periods; frequently walks, stands, grasps, lifts, holds, or feels objects; occasionally stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls. Extended use of computer and typing is required.The employee frequently is required to use manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination when working and handling office equipment. The employee is subject to assist and support up to 20 pounds with varying amounts of assistance on a reoccurring basis. The employee is required to have corrected vision and hearing within normal range and the ability to operate office equipment. Generally, no occupational exposure to blood, body fluids, communicable diseases or other potentially infectious substances, but may require performing unplanned Category III tasks (Category II). Typical classroom environment. This position requires the staff to travel occasionally to other Little City community sites.
