Job summary

Henry County School District seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist to provide direct therapy to students under IEPs and 504 plans. You will conduct assessments, write reports, and align services with district policies and federal guidelines.

Collaborate with teachers, families, and related service providers to implement individualized strategies, monitor progress, and support language development across settings.

Qualifications

  • ISBE PEL with SLP endorsement required or equivalent
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
  • ASHA CCC (Certificate of Clinical Competence) preferred
  • Knowledgeable about language acquisition
  • Flexible, excellent interpersonal communication skills and positive attitude to promote speech-language needs

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality direct speech-language therapy to students per IEPs, 504 plans, or other intervention plans
  • Conduct assessments, analyze results, and write reports on speech, voice, fluency, pragmatics, and language
  • Ensure evaluations, treatment plans, and service delivery align with district policies and state/federal guidelines
  • Participate in MTSS Problem Solving Process
  • Assist and guide teachers in observing and referring suspected speech and language delays/disorders
  • Consult with teaching teams to develop appropriate classroom strategies and accommodations
  • Ensure skills generalize across settings by collaborating with teams and other providers
  • Complete treatment notes and progress reports in a timely manner per policy
  • Document all aspects of work with students per guidelines
  • Maintain confidential records and provide timely progress reports as required by law and policy
  • Stay updated on best practices in speech-language therapy and language development and implement them
  • Participate in regular SLP meetings with colleagues
  • Engage parents and families in student learning
  • Contribute productively to the school as a whole

Job description

Date: School Year 2026-2027

Position Responsibilities:

  • Providing high quality direct speech-language therapy services to students according to students' IEPs, 504 plans or other intervention plans.
  • Conducting assessments, analyzing results, and writing reports to determine strengths and concerns in areas such as speech, voice, fluency, pragmatics, and language.
  • Ensuring evaluations, treatment plans and service delivery are aligned with school district policies as well as state and federal guidelines.
  • Participating in the Problem Solving Process through the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).
  • Assisting and guiding teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language delays/disorders.
  • Consulting with teaching teams to develop and implement of curriculum modifications and appropriate classroom strategies and accommodations.
  • Ensuring students' skills are generalized across settings by collaborating with teaching teams and other related service providers.
  • Completing treatment notes and progress reports in timely manner in accordance to school policy.
  • Documenting all aspects of work with students according to school and state guidelines.
  • Maintaining appropriate, confidential, records and provide timely reports of progress, consistent with legal mandates and district policy.
  • Keeping abreast of best practices in speech and language therapy and language development and implementing best practices in compliance with district policy, Federal Laws, and State Regulations.
  • Participating in the collaborative process with speech/language therapist colleagues through participation in regularly scheduled Speech/Language Pathologist meetings.
  • Engaging parents and families in their student's learning.
  • Contributing productively to the school as a whole.
