Job summary

Children's Health in Plano, TX is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist for PRN assignments. You will evaluate and treat patients, set individualized goals, and document progress according to professional standards and Children's Health policies.

The role requires a TX license and ASHA CCC, with eligibility for on-site work and collaborative multidisciplinary care. This position supports family education and ongoing professional development within an integrated therapy team.

Qualifications

  • Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Graduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience Required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct Speech Language Pathology evaluations and re-evaluations, including assessment of prior and current level of function, setting individualized goals and discharge recommendations; provide direct Speech Language Pathology treatments according to standards of practice, including patient and family education, progression of treatment plan and implementation of appropriate therapeutic interventions; report of patient progress through appropriate written documentation including evaluation forms, progress notes, education forms; collaborate with physicians, patients, family and other members of the health care team relative to patient treatment and progress as well as other affiliated agencies with regard to effective discharge planning.
  • Coordinate and prioritize own schedule in relation to demands of patient treatment and other departmental responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate proper use and maintenance of department equipment and supplies; attend and participate in departmental meetings, in-services, rounds and peer reviews; participate in program development as assigned by Team Leader; participate in continuing education programs or other opportunities for learning continued professional competency.

Summary

This job is for PRN assignments only. The incumbent in this position is a staff therapist who participates in the evaluation and treatment of patients based upon current principles and practices of Speech Language Pathology. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Children's Health philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.

Work Experience
How You’ll Be Successful:
  • At least 2 years Job-related experience preferred (new grads considered) Preferred
EDUCATION
  • Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
  • Graduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience Required
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • License to practice Speech Language in the state of Texas Required
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from ASHA Required
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements Required
