Job summary

Children's Health is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist for PRN float assignments across multiple outpatient sites. The role involves evaluating and treating patients, coordinating schedules, and collaborating with the care team in a fast-paced outpatient setting.

Requires 2+ years of relevant experience and VitalStim credentialing. Must hold Texas SLP license and CCC-SLP; certain shifts may include 10-hour blocks with flexibility to cover 2 shifts per week.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct Speech Language Pathology evaluations and treatments per standards of practice.
  • Coordinate and prioritize own schedule in relation to patient treatment needs.

  • Support discharge planning and collaboration with the care team.

Job Title & Specialty Area: Speech Language Pathologist PRN Float

Department: Children's Health Specialty Center for Outpatient Therapy

Location: Must be available to float to three or more outpatient sites

Southern Outpatient Locations: Waxahachie,

Shift: Must be available to work 60 hours per quarter. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday from 7:30am to 6pm. Must be available to pick up 10-hour shifts; Must have flexibility to pick up shifts 2 shifts per week.

Summary

This job is for PRN assignments only. The incumbent in this position is a staff therapist who participates in the evaluation and treatment of patients based upon current principles and practices of Speech Language Pathology. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Children's Health philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct Speech Language Pathology evaluations and re-evaluations, including assessment of prior and current level of function, setting individualized goals and making discharge recommendations in accordance with standards of practice; provide direct Speech Language Pathology treatments according to standards of practice, including patient and family education, progression of treatment plan and implementation of appropriate therapeutic interventions; report of patient progress through appropriate written documentation including evaluation forms, progress notes, education forms; collaborate with physicians, patients, family and other members of the health care team relative to patient treatment and progress as well as other affiliated agencies with regard to effective discharge planning.
  • Coordinate and prioritize own schedule in relation to demands of patient treatment and other departmental responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate proper use and maintenance of department equipment and supplies; attend and participate in departmental meetings, inservices, rounds and peer reviews; participate in program development as assigned by Team Leader; participate in continuing education programs or other opportunities for learning continued professional competency.

EDUCATION
  • Bachelors Degree Required
  • Masters Degree or Graduate Degree Required
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • State of Texas Speech Pathology License - Required Upon Hire
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence-Speech-Language Pathology - Required
  • Basic Life Support - BLS Essential Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers Required
