Job summary

Arch Ford is seeking a Certified SPED Teacher for Horizons Day Treatment (North Little Rock) to deliver district-approved curriculum and monitor student progress. The role emphasizes differentiated lessons for ALE students, collaboration with families, and maintaining safe, supportive classrooms.

The position requires a current Arkansas teaching license; SPED certification is preferred and experience with at-risk youth is valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and current Arkansas teaching license.
• SPED certification preferred.
• Knowledge and experience in adolescent behavior issues and psychology.
• Desire to foster constructive adolescent behavior and support social, emotional, behavioral and academic achievement.
• Licensure in assigned areas and/or AQT documentation.
• Experience working with at-risk students is preferred.
• Positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Teach district/program approved curriculum and maintain accurate student records.
• Develop differentiated lessons for ALE students; small group, one-on-one, whole group.
• Provide nurturing, supportive, and positive classroom environment.
• Participate in student placement and transition conferences and develop SAP/Transition/Behavior Plans.
• Adapt and modify instruction based on students’ emotional, behavioral, academic, and social status.
• Assist administration in implementing district policies and guidelines on student behavior and safety.
• Maintain an orderly and safe classroom environment.
• Communicate with parents/guardians about student progress.
• Collaborate with school counseling services and mental health providers to support student success.
• Direct, instruct, and evaluate learning experiences of all students.
• Incorporate project-based learning and technology.
• Maintain proper teacher-parent-student relationships.
• Be responsible for student supervision during classes or duty.
• Follow Arkansas Code of Ethics and personnel policies.
