Job summary

The Scituate Public School District seeks a Special Education Teacher for a 12-week long term substitute assignment (8/31/26–12/01/26). The teacher will collaborate with parents, students and general education staff to implement IEPs, provide direct instruction to students with disabilities, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations to promote student achievement.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of behavior management strategies and implementing supports.
• Ability to modify curriculum and differentiate instruction for diverse learners.
• Proficiency with educational diagnostic and prescriptive testing and data interpretation.
• Familiarity with state and federal special education regulations and reporting requirements.
• Experience in developing and implementing IEPs and transition plans.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for IEP team meetings and provide case management for students with disabilities.
• Collaborate with regular education staff to monitor progress and implement instruction.
• Develop and monitor IEPs with measurable goals.
• Make data-driven instructional decisions to improve outcomes.
• Administer and interpret formal assessments as appropriate.
• Adapt materials to help students access the general curriculum.
• Coordinate with aides and supervise staff working with students.
• Participate in professional development to improve practice.
• Maintain compliant student files and documentation.
