Job summary

Intermediate School District 917 in Rosemount, MN is seeking an Education Support Professional to assist students with IEP goals in ASD and DCD programs at Dakota County Technical Center (TESA). 7:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m., 7.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday, following the school calendar.

The role involves supporting students individually and in small groups, collaborating with teachers, therapists, and other staff, and maintaining safety while helping students with daily tasks and social skills.

Qualifications

• Two years of college education with 60 completed credits, an Associate's (or higher) degree, OR a passing score on the ParaPro assessment.
• Experience with children and/or individuals with special needs and knowledge of teaching practices for students with disabilities.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team with staff, parents, and the community.
• Willingness to complete training in Professional Crisis Management and implement restrictive procedures as needed.
• Ability to obtain PCA certification from the Department of Human Services.
• Good oral, written, and interpersonal communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom teacher in providing instruction and managing student educational programming.
• Adapt instructional materials or strategies to provide differentiated instruction and meet student needs.
• Implement data collection, charting and monitoring to track student progress.
• Assist licensed staff with classroom management and behavioral interventions.
• Utilize proactive behavior management and de-escalation techniques; may involve restraints as required.
• Help students with daily routines and personal cares, including mobility and supervision.
• Facilitate activities with students or small groups under supervision of teachers or therapists.
• Support development of appropriate social skills and positive behaviors.
• Collaborate with related service staff to meet student needs and maintain a positive environment.
• Participate in training/in-service as assigned; perform other duties as needed.

Education

Two years of college education with 60 credits OR an Associate's degree OR passing ParaPro assessment

Ability to work as a team

Willingness to obtain PCA certification

Strong communication skills
