Qualifications

• Willingness to work with students requiring high-level special education services.
• Two years of college (60 credits) or an associate's degree or PARA Pro passing score.
• Experience with children or individuals with special needs preferred.
• Ability to work in a team with staff, parents, and community.
• Willingness to complete Professional Crisis Management training.
• Ability to obtain PCA certification.
• Strong communication skills.
• Comfort with assistive technology and core subjects.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom teacher with instruction and manage student programming.
• Adapt materials or strategies for differentiated instruction.
• Collect data, charts, and paperwork to monitor student success.
• Support classroom management and behavioral interventions.
• Use de-escalation techniques and assist with safe student handling if needed.
• Help students with daily routines and transitions between activities.
• Facilitate activities for individuals or small groups under supervision.
• Model appropriate social skills and behaviors for students.
• Maintain student safety and collaborate with staff to support learning.
