Job summary

INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL DISTRICT 917 in Minnesota is seeking an Education Support Professional, Special Education to support students at Two Rivers High School in Mendota Heights through the DASH program. This 7.5-hour/day role runs 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, five days a week, with an anticipated start on August 26, 2026.

Under supervision, you will assist with instructional programming, data collection, behavior support, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to support IEP goals and student

Qualifications

• Willingness to work with students receiving high-level special education services.
• Two years of study at an institution of higher education with the ability to provide transcripts showing 60 credits, an Associate's degree, OR a ParaPro passing score.
• Experience with children and/or individuals with special needs; related methods and techniques in teaching.
• Team participation with staff, parents, and community for collaborative relationships.
• Will to complete Professional Crisis Management training and implement restrictive procedures.
• Ability to obtain PCA certification from DHS.
• Strong oral and written communication in high-stress situations.
• Ability and desire to work with assistive technology.
• Basic computer and email skills; proficiency in core educational subjects.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom teacher in providing instruction and managing student programming.
• Adapt instructional materials and strategies for differentiated instruction.
• Track progress with charting and data collection for student success.
• Support licensed staff in classroom management and behavioral interventions.
• Apply proactive behavior management and de-escalation techniques; may involve restraints.
• Escort and supervise students during arrival, departures, and activities.
• Facilitate activities with students in small groups under supervision.
• Help develop social skills and behavior through modeling and instruction.
• Maintain student safety and a positive learning environment.
• Collaborate with service personnel and staff to meet student needs.
• Participate in trainings and in-service as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
