Qualifications

• Accredited high school diploma or equivalent required.
• Paraprofessional certificate from State Board of Certification required.
• Completion of a training program for teacher assistants preferred.

Responsibilities

• Help teacher prepare instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom and prepare space for student needs.
• Assist with inventory and care of equipment.
• Keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Assist students with physical disabilities, including transfers and positioning.
• Support personal care needs, including feeding and hygiene.
• Assist with classroom curriculum and interventions.
• Manage student behavior, including crisis intervention when needed.
• Support individual students or small groups to develop motor skills.
• Supervise students during lunch, bus, and playground times.
