Qualifications

• Completion of a training program for teacher assistants or 6 months of related work experience preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of child growth, development and behavior.
• Ability to work with people from diverse ethnic groups.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills to meet job goals.
• Willingness to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with children with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher with preparing instructional materials and displays.
• Maintain a neat, orderly classroom and adapt spaces to student needs.
• Assist with inventory, equipment maintenance and organization.
• Help keep administrative records and reports as required.
• Orient substitutes and provide classroom support as needed.
• Support students with disabilities, including mobility assistance and personal care.
