Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; preferred higher education credits or degree.
• Paraprofessional certificate from State Board of Certification is required.
• Completion of a teacher assistant training program or evidenced work experience preferred.
• Ability to work with students with disabilities and adapt instruction as needed.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher with instructional materials preparation and displays.
• Maintain neat, orderly classroom and prepare space for student needs.
• Assist with inventory, equipment care and maintenance.
• Keep attendance, records and reports as required by the teacher.
• Assist substitutes with classroom orientation and routine.
• Support students with disabilities, including transfers and daily care.
• Support curriculum implementation and behavior management under supervision.
• Ensure confidentiality and participate in staff development and meetings.
