Job summary

Lovelady High School in Princeton, TX seeks a Paraprofessional SPED Self-Contained to support students with disabilities in a self-contained classroom. You will assist in instructional programs, behavior management, and daily classroom operations under supervision of the principal and certified teachers.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, with some college or an associate’s degree preferred.

Qualifications

• Education/Certification: High school diploma or GED
• Associate’s degree or two years of study at an institution of higher learning*
• Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to work with children; Follow verbal and written instructions; Communicate effectively; Knowledge of general office equipment
• Experience: Some experience working with children

Responsibilities

• Instructional Support: Prepare instructional materials and classroom displays; Maintain neat and orderly classroom; Inventory and maintain equipment; Keep administrative records and reports; Orient substitutes.
• Student Management: Assist students with physical disabilities; Monitor and communicate needs; Manage behavior and assist in crises; Adapt to individual needs; Work with students singly or in small groups to develop motor skills; Supervise throughout the day including lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
• Other: Maintain confidentiality; Participate in staff development and meetings; Follow safety and emergency procedures
